IMPLANT CROWNS and IMPLANT DENTURES
Dental Implants are a permanent alternative for replacing a missing tooth or teeth. Implants are synthetic structures that are placed in the area where the root of the missing tooth used to occupy. Implants are attached to the jawbone and act as a foundation for an artificial tooth or permanent bridge. In some cases, implants can be used to attach dentures. Todays implants are so well-designed that they mimic the look and feel of natural teeth.
During the first visit an anchor is placed into the jawbone and a temporary crown can be placed. Then the site is allowed to heal for several months. This gives your tissue time to grow around the anchor to more firmly hold it in place. Once the site is healed a custom-made, natural-looking tooth is fitted over the implanted anchor.

BONDING
Bonding is an alternative to veneers. It is a process in which a tooth-colored material that looks like the enamel of your teeth is molded and shaped, and then hardened and polished. Bonding can be used to improve the color of a tooth or close unsightly gaps.
DENTURES
Dentures are a removable appliance designed to replace missing teeth and are worn by millions of Americans. Modern dentures are lightweight and mimic the look and feel of natural teeth.
Dentures are generally classified as partial dentures or full dentures. Partial dentures are designed to replace a small section of teeth, to restore function and to help prevent existing healthy, natural teeth from shifting position. Full dentures generally replace an entire set of teeth such as upper and lower dentures.
VENEERS
Special thin laminates called veneers are used to correct discolored, worn down, cracked and chipped teeth. Veneers can also close unsightly gaps between teeth. A veneer can reverse years of stains caused by foods, caffeine and tobacco use.
The process involves buffing the tooth, removing a thin layer of the enamel, taking an impression of the tooth and finally bonding the veneer to the tooth with a special cement.
CROWNS
A crown is a porcelain or gold cap that is placed on top of a tooth. Crowns are used to restore a tooth's function and appearance after a tooth fractures or when decay in a tooth has become so advanced that large portions of the tooth must be removed.
Crowns are sometimes used to attach bridges, cover implants, prevent a cracked tooth from becoming worse, or when an existing filling is in jeopardy of becoming loose or dislocated. Crowns also serve an aesthetic use and are applied when a discolored or stained tooth needs to be restored to its natural appearance.
BRIDGES
Bridges are natural-looking permanent dental fixtures that can replace a missing tooth or a section of missing teeth. Bridges are cemented to existing teeth and/or implants. Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural function and contour of teeth.
COSMETIC FILLINGS, INLAYS and ONLAYS
Cosmetic fillings are materials made from porcelain and composite resins which are colored to match natural tooth enamel. Dr. Palmer offers Mercury-Free materials for cosmetic fillings.
COSMETIC CONTOURING
Cosmetic contouring involves gently reshaping teeth by removing a small portion of enamel to correct alignment. Cosmetic contouring can be used on teeth that are crooked, chipped, cracked, and even overlap as a result traumatic injury, grinding or heredity.
